St. Joseph Hospital School of Nurse Anesthesia (SJHSNA) is a privately run program, located in southern New England, under
the auspices of Narragansett Bay Anesthesia.
The school was founded and initially accredited in 1962. To date, we have graduated over 400 students. SJHSNA remains a small program focusing on the individual's
progress and success. Through a partnership with Rhode Island College Zvart Onanian School of Nursing located in Providence, RI, we offer a primarily front-loaded
academic curriculum. The remaining months of the program are based at the primary site with continued courses including hybrid online learning and clinical rotations
within driving distance. Through our system of clinical rotations, students are exposed to diverse experiences and techniques. Effective February, 2022 SJHSNA is now
offering a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in collaboration with Rhode Island College Zvart Onanian School of Nursing.
SJHSNA is fully accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs
(COA), 10275 W. Higgins Rd., Suite 906, Rosemont, IL 60018-5603. Telephone: 224-275-9130 (www.coacrna.org). The program will be
scheduled for its next consideration for continued accreditation in spring 2026.
